Artistic philosophy

Originally from Salaberry de Valleyfield, Yvon St-Aubin is a self-taught artist. Musician by trade, he is now living his passion, painting. Painter of explosive colors and bright lights, his painting reflects the sensibility and emotion that we feel looking at these impressive landscapes. Even though he did his apprenticeship in various regions of Quebec and mostly in Charlevoix, it is a stay in Provence, following the footsteps of his idol Van Gogh, that marks the trigger of his color explosion. Since then, he crosses Canada in order to implement all its vibration and energy into the landscapes that he paints.

The rays of light seen in his paintings characterize his work and are now known as his trademark. St-Aubin has developed a unique style very appreciated both by the general public and collectors alike.

In 2002, he is nominated as artist of the year in Charlevoix. He permanently exhibits in several galleries in Quebec and Canada. St-Aubin was also appointed honorary president of the Quebec and New Brunswick Art Shows. Several major private and public corporations have a St-Aubin and his works are sold in Canada, the USA as well as Australia, Europe and Asia.

In 2010, a stamp from one of his paintings was issued by Canada Post.

St-Aubin is listed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Montreal and Ottawa.
